My axolotl recently has been lop-sided for a while, and recently, he's now stuck with swimming on his side, I've tried to help him stand up straight, and he managed for a bit, but he just doesn't seem to stay like it for ever. I've checked his arms and legs, and both sides are working fine, so it's not like he's struggling with moving... And it's always his left side which floats upwards... Has he eaten anything? Or is he poorly?

I'm not totally clued up (in fact I know nearly nothing about axies) but do they have a swim bladder type thing??
I only ask because I had animals that used to do similar and it was caused by water purifiying tablets making their swim bladder go wrong.
They did correct themselve after about 2 weeks or so, but wasn't nice to see.
Or is there a chance he's swallowed a large gulp of air when surface feeding??
I shall go looky to see if I can find out the position of axie stomach as well. |
