Hi I am new to the forum, I am honestly new to amphibians to a sense but not to reptiles, I have large reptiles. (my site www.freewebs.com/travisparkersreptiles) I am in need of knowing the sex or ways of sexing cane toads i read a article on the form about sexing. I have two cane toads both about the size of your hand. I have heard if it "churps" when you pick it up its a male, and if it doesn't its a female, I do have one that curps loud. The other one is silent. the quite one is bigger, however they was not raised together so unsure on the age, Can I send some pictures for visual sexing, like of the fingers?

Thanks in advance Travis

I think you've got it nailed really- females are rounder, bigger and quiet. Males are a little smaller but will call.

Males should get nuptial pads during breeding season, so pictures of fingers may help.

Don't think there's anyother visual things you can pick up really.

Only thing I've heard was from Boronnia a couple years back, they're an Aussie based aquatic specialist, apparently the females do get a fair bit larger than the males and can look darker or smoother.
I believe there's a chap on here who's quite good with canes, but it's a quiet forum so a definite answer may take another day or 2.
