Does anyone know the difference?

Or is it one of those English/American things like fetus and foetus? pajamas and pyjamas? theater and theatre?

If not- the only thing I can think of is one is a reaction to the cold weather, the other is a reaction to the dry season. But that's just a guess

From looking around quickly, it would appear to be just a spelling difference as you suggested. ;)

Thanks Ade - I think aestivation is the english term. We've always got to be more awkward
