I don't know about where you are, but this past week we have been inudated with slugs in the back garden... so I was thinking-

I know a few amphibians can eat slugs, including the sals and toads we have got, but I've never done it because I don't know how clean or safe they are.

If I was to feed some of these nasty slugs to my phibs is there anything I need to do to prepare them? I would think that keeping them for a week on carrot peelings or lettuce would be a good idea (to clear their insides of nastiness), but do I need to wash them or anything before feeding to the phibs? I'm thinking about the slimey secretions mainly.

Plus is it actually worth it? Apart from getting them off my plants, and being a free food source, what benefits do they have to an amphibian diet?
