We bought a young axi at on friday. we have a pump ect and all new tank ect but today when i got home from work 1 gill seems to be missing and my axi looks like it is dead although it is not and its ear area and snout so to speak have gone a very nasty looking grey colour indeed

any ideas welcome

Unfortunatly my little Loxy died today so the urgency has gone out of my question but i would still welcome any ideas as to what it might have been or why it happened and also what should i do with the tank ect to make it usable again as i dont want any replacement i get to go the same way.

What kind of filter have you got? Do you think that is what has damaged your axie?

Was there anything else in the tank he could have damaged himslef on?

Really sorry that he didn't make it. It must be heartbreaking.
