OK. So I'm watching Freecycle like a hawk for either a 2ft or 3ft tank that I can use for an Axy and doing some serious research in between my uni work. I've got enough scaleys and furries so it's time for some slimeys.

Can anyone recommend a suitable make/model of filter that will be suitable? I've been looking around the manufacturer's websites and it's starting to drive me a bit mad. Cheers .

check out this site which has a section on filtration.

I have personaly used an internal power filter[fluval] with axolotls, but prefer an external small air pump attatched to a box filter, they do a good job of filtration, but dont cause much current to disturb the axy.

We are using one of those sponge filters, which seems to be doing the job. Nice and gentle, but effective.

These a picture of one on the second link Punkman has given. It's the top picture.

Cheers Morg . I see what's needed now. I used to have a Fluval in my old tropical fish tank and that was all that kept popping into my head whenever I thought about it. Just gotta wait for Freecycle to come up trumps now.
